My best friends and I wanted to take a trip to Tasmania. Our conservative Bible college didn’t think 2 girls and 2 guys were an appropriate travelling party. So the boys invited Jon (odd numbers are so much safer apparently).
One night in Tasmania I was upset about something and needed to get out for air and thinking space, Soderz to the rescue. In braids, flannel pj pants and my fuzzy old GAP sweatshirt he took me for a walk along the harbour. We sat in the moonlight by the water and talked for hours.
Didn’t fully understand it, fought it like crazy, but I couldn’t shake it.
I asked Jon what he remembers from that night and he said he accidentally farted out loud. Must have been pretty mortified if he remembers that some 9+ years later. lol (again, not the most romantic thing, but so Jon and Christa I can’t leave it out) I don’t remember that part (but I also blocked out the overalls… so my memory may not be the most reliable). What I do remember is the most startling sense of companionship and comfort.
And now I’ve run out of words. How can I possibly express what happened in my heart after that night?!
So thankful God took me to the other side of the world to help me find this partner.
It couldn’t have been anyone else.
Jonathon Ian Sodeman, I love you.
You are the best thing.
And because this is our anniversary and Valentines was yesterday, I’m going to take advantage and be super duper extra cheesy.
We danced at our wedding to this song…
