I found it reassuring! It’s something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately.

I enjoyed that. I really related to the scrapbooking thing because a friend tried to get me into digital scrapbooking when Abigail was a new baby. Yeah, I have about 8 pages and then it stops because Abigail started crawling (i.e. trashing my house). I’m really more of a toss-the-photos-in-the-album-at-random person, and that is OKAY.

I remember once an oblivious single dude friend from high school asking me “so, like, aside from this mom thing, what do you DO now?”. I think that we full-timers sometimes doubt ourselves and get this idea that we have to do more outside our little-people sphere to really be accomplishing something, but there are different seasons for different things. Right now my kids need me at home, regardless of whatever career aspirations I might have for the future.

I really struggle sometimes with the lack of “ministry” I do, and feeling like I have no place at church. And yet… I can’t reconcile that with how it would negatively effect the family if I did more. Every time I try it disturbs the peace and balance here. Sometimes I think that must mean I am just a low capacity person (and maybe so). But this kind of article encourages me… that being a mom and wife is my ministry… And that there is value in a quiet life at home.
