Life

My life as a copycat

So… after this post you may not want to ever come back to this blog. But whatevs, I’d rather live happily with my conscience than keep a few fair weather friends like you! Just kidding, Just kidding…

But really. I feel like I should be in a meeting or something… “Hi, I’m Christa and I’m a copycat”.
My husband says there is nothing new under the sun (might of heard that somewhere else), and of course we kind of are the sum of all we take in. Every creative thought is a spark that jumped from someone else’s fire, right? The issue is, (I think) that I consume EVERYTHING. I read and read and read and listen and listen and listen and watch and watch and watch. And then I get inspired and copy, copy, copy. I’m not an original. It’s just a fact, really. As much as I’d like to be one of those bold, creative types, I’m just not. That’s why I’m a blogger, not an author. If I tried to write, someone else’s words would just pour out. I don’t create, I compile. It doesn’t faze me much, except now in the blogging world. I don’t do a lot of linking, and I don’t really have much of a blogroll. But I don’t want to take credit for the bits and pieces I have picked up along the way. So this post is a peek into my fav blog inspiration, a few big timers in the blogging world, a few not so big.

My recent “letters” post format comes from quite possibly my fav blog ever. Their Tuesday Questions are brilliant, they are completely loveable themselves, fist pumps and leg kicks all around!! (I’ve been planning to share them with you, but I was waiting because I wanted to use that format while Jon was away and their letters kick my letters butt, so you had to read mine first to think they were cute before you knew and loved the REAL deal like I do!)

My blog format itself comes from my blogging idol (well, kind of… she bought the same wordpress theme as me, we just personalized it differently). I just plain adore Darby and her Rovers! She is someone I purposefully look to emulate, a wonderful balance of honesty and inspiration. I found her while searching for pics of bathroom remodels of all things!!

My bangs were inspired by Le Blog de Betty.

My taste in music is influenced by the adorable Courtney Kaleidoscope (who doesn’t post nearly as often as I’d like her to!).

Sherry and John from YHL inspire me to keep plugging away at our little house.

I want to travel the globe and send postcards like these two

I try to cook and take pics like the world famous PW and Black Heels to Tractor Wheels made me wish Jon was a cowboy.

And… I get my daily dose of geekery from here.

There are many others I like, but those are the old faithfuls I keep going back to.
I’m seriously sitting here debating whether or not to actually post this. I feel like I’m giving away family secrets, or a ridiculously yummy recipe that I want to take all the credit for (like Cathy Hewer’s lemon cake, or Cynthia from WindleyEly’s chocolate cake). If I tell you the sum of what I am, you might like them and not me. But if I tell you about them, I will like me better, and my conscience won’t keep smarting so much. To share or not to share, that is the question?
To share of course. How could I not?!

To copy quote Kahlil Gibron,
“If you love somebody, let them go, for if they return, they were always yours. And if they don’t, they never were.”

Guess I just have to trust that old saying and know that if you come back to me after all that bloggy goodness, it’s really love. πŸ™‚

ok first of all, I love your blog cause it’s about you ^_^ Even if inspired by others. I am glad you realize it’s normal. Also. PW? I hesitate to show you this because it may offend or seem snarky BUT! I laugh so hard when she does these posts. You had to know PW would be the one blog I’d hiss at. Check out what the poking fun done at Rechelles blog: http://www.rechelleunplugged.com/2010/11/pie-near-woman-and-photo-chopping-your-babies/

that’s hilarious, I feel like I’ve read some of her blog before, funny, but a little too much blog hate for me. I can’t handle the PW confessions or any of that stuff, but she posts EXCELLENT recipes and the photo contests are great. I know what she is and isn’t, and well, I love butter. πŸ˜‰

I got all excited that you look at epbot too!!! I love it! I guess I’m not copy worthy, but that’s good, I can stay an original! πŸ™‚

I didn’t include any of the blogs I follow that are personal friends. Those were just my inspirational ones… nothing deep either, home decor, travel, fashion, random silliness, music… I don’t watch tv, so those are my daily dose of entertainment.

I can’t read PW because it makes me feel like a failure, and reminds me that nearly every person on the planet takes better photos than me.

I had to cut out all the blogs of people that I don’t know about a month ago, including my beloved apartment therapy. So I read yours, my hubby’s, and 3 others.

ohhhhh…. I’ve definitely felt the need at times to kick the blog reading habit. I’ve had a couple small fasts from them, and am trying to remember moderation. πŸ™‚ Not easy! One good blog always leads to another… then you’ve just lost hours. It’s definitely my cable tv equivalent.

I know, it’s so snarky and a little wow, you’re putting a LOT of effort into being horrible LOL. I still chuckle though. I hate that PW makes other women feel less than because she has the money and help to look like she’s floating on air. I live on a smallholding and I have 4 inches of chicken poo up my pant legs, coal stained hands, old work clothes on and a floor that no matter how much I mop doesn’t look clean. That’s real life. Not flowy top princess farm girl lol. I love your blog though. It’s real and you and your lovely family and s’perfection :c)

all the same reasons I love yours! Honesty is pretty much my fav quality, and I like relatable people best… aka YOU! πŸ™‚ <3
