Last night I applied a thin coat of a water based poly to my kitchen table (finally) and when I woke up this morning I found a YELLOW table.
After I scraped my chin off the floor I got out the sand paper. I threw all my irritation and disappointment into sanding that table and now my hands are so rough I could finish it off without the paper!
So tonight… primer.
ASAP I will be using a higher gloss (like satin or semi-gloss) paint to refinish it… AGAIN.
will never ever ever ever ever ever ever touch poly again.
Sigh.
Not. Happy. Jan.

update: decided to go with Aura again (but in semi-gloss), so with that good sanding I gave it I was able to skip the primer this time. One coat on, second to come in a couple hours.
Oh that really bites. But I’m sure the semi-gloss will turn out just fine.
Oh…NO! Oh Christa….you’re amazing…I’d have just cried a lot and thrown the table off the back deck… ha!
Then Harold would have given me a hug and said “it’s OK baby… ” and we’d probably never look at it again…or…he’d try to fix it all and then I’d take over because I’m bossy! bahaha…
it ended up being a quick job (other than the sanding, that WAS brutal!), and now it is done and looks great! No more table cloth and no more yellow! I did want to cry though when I first saw how yellow it was…
