Ska-Nah-Doht and root beer floats!

My dear friend Lisa and I decided to take our kids out for a little adventure today! I’ve been dying to check out Longwoods Conservation area and Ska-Nah-Doht Iroquois village that is located in our area. So after a fun visit and lunch out at our place, we loaded the kids up and headed out.

In the conservation area there is a small children’s museum of sorts…(excuse the iPhone pics)
and from there it is a short walk to the village itself…
After that we took a short walk down one of the many trails to enjoy a bit more of the beautiful day!
My thoughts on the park as a kids attraction? It’s not fancy and it won’t take too much time… but it is very kid friendly and an interesting, different and cheap (donations… 3.00 for adults, under 6 are free) activity. You can book tours, and I think they specialize in student groups and classroom tours. There are a ton of trails to explore as well. I’m sure will we be back again with daddy.

After the conservation area we hit up the nearby 50’s diner for ice cream and root beer floats.
All in all a fun day with great friends!

Glad you had a fun time! And a nice day to enjoy it in! πŸ™‚
Was it busy this week with March Break?
In all the years we’ve lived out here we haven’t taken the boys there…I didn’t think they were old enough to understand/appreciate it yet. I guess the trails alone are nice (and worth the trip) though. You’re right in that there are alot of class trips there…in fact that was likely the last time I was there…when I was in public school (and that was a LONG time ago!) πŸ™‚
I believe they have snowshoeing in the winter there!? That would be alot of fun!
And the 50’s diner…was that nice inside? I have yet to check that place out. It’s certainly not fancy on the outside so curious what the inside was like. We just haven’t been there moreso b/c of our dietary restrictions… restaurants are not exactly a ‘regular’ outing for us. πŸ™

The cleanliness of the diner left something o be desired. πŸ™‚ but they have lots of 50’s style decor. Ice cream and floats would be abou the only thing I’d order there! πŸ™‚

Ska Nah Doht was empty. We were the only people there! Which made it better in my opinion because our kids had free reign. My guess is that not alot of parents know about it, just teachers. There really isn’t much to it.
